These temp forums will not close. Its a free forum so it can be left open with virtually no attention needed for it. Think of these forums as a failsafe in case, god forbid, another repeat of JustDubs happens. or there is unexpected downtime on the new site. Sporadic there is no need for that as I am sure you are aware with the new "sites" in development. You can of course keep this place open but if you keep communications open here it is possible people may remain here and that's a problem. We have taken necessary steps to ensure a repeat of history does not happen so locking this site and redirecting it's members to the new site would be a must. If in the unlikely scenario, the community cannot communicate on the new site then open these forums again. I think it's better this way. This was only a temporary place anyway.

I think this is a great idea. If you lock this site when the new one is up. It would limit the trolls and hiding the new site would be easier this way. Disturbances from this site if it is locked wouldn't be able to really be linked to the new site so the URL hopefully will not be targeted. I just hope there is not a repeat of JD, but the past is the past. lets just focus on keeping the new site hidden when it is announced.

Even after the new sites open, we should keep these forums open a bit longer until the new sites forums get a bit of momentum of their own with set up topics and users. After that, is it possible to cause these forums' URL to redirect to the new forums? If not, then we may need to keep these forums open for a bit with a large notice that say the forums will close a bit after the notice so we don't get people left behind.

We could just make all these forums private except for the announcements forum which would simply leave a sticky redirecting people to the new site. That way if need of this place ever comes again we can just switch the forums back open to the public.

I agree Kusa. We can leave them open until everyone is emailed about the new site and everyone has long enough to look at the announcement thread. Then yes, it is possible to set all but the Announcements to private so everyone can read about why we moved. The site can even be locked with a custom message telling everyone we moved.

agreed, it looks very incomplete, i saw the thread about how its not done yet and how someone worked VERY hard to make it where its at, and i appreciate that, but im curious if there is any ETA on it? even a rough one

I didn't say close this site just hide all the forums bar the announcements forums with a forum saying we are moving every to DTR. keeping all forums open here is counter productive to moving people over to the new site. These forums were temporary.
