Yeah Fairy Tail got a bit heavy. Well since I was considering changing my nomination anyway I guess I will now (This isn't a fairy tail contest)

Riru isn't a magical girl she is psychic which is normally seen as a more scientific power than a magic one. Especially is needless the power is science based not magic. So she isn't a magic user. If we start including everyone with any kinda powers we include pretty much everyone. We already expanded it from Magical girls to magic users in general. We shouldn't make it any broader. There are more than enough magic users in anime to pick from.

This was supposed to be a magical girl/boy competition wasn't it? and you can't say they are even close to the same thing because even within The series Misaka is from there is a very clear line between magic and ESP. Trying to include ESP and other supernatual powers that aren't magical makes it way to broad and turns it into just a general popularity contest. Why not save them for an ESP character contest or something?

The majority of anime have characters with some kinda power or ability so including all kinds of powers and abilities includes pretty much every anime character ever made.

Yes the current criteria that Red approved are "Magical girl/boy" and the genera of Ah! my Goddess is sometimes refereed to as the "Magical girl friend" genera. She is very magical so she is completely qualified. Or at least she is just as qualified as half the other people nominated. Besides how can you hate Belldandy?

It is not our place to decide whether any nomination is "magical" enough. If I decided to nominate Scooby Doo, it goes (as long as it isn't a spoiler).

It's not about them not being Magical enough but them not being magical at all. Nonononoki said he wanted to expand it from magical to supernatual stuff like ESP as well. In other words he wasn't even trying to say his nomination was magical at all but was expanding the criteria to fit his nominee anyway. So what is the point of defining it as a magical competition if absolutely anything is allowed anyway even if it's not even slightly magical? To me it just defeats the purpose if your ignore the nomination's criteria.

When I was still undecided on who to nominate between Sakura and Zoey, I asked Red if Zoey qualified because she got her powers from science and not magic. I believe Red said something along the lines of "AP has it listed under Magical Girl, so it counts."
So pretty much, I think we can nominate magic users and science users who are in an anime classified as "Magical Girl".
