Re: ANIMALS OF APRIL Elimination Game
I have a question for those voting for Mudkip. answer honestly now
Are you actually voting for Mudkip because you think he's better than Pikachu or because doing so goes against everyone's breaket? I don't think anyone predicted Mudkip winning this round.

i forgot to submit my bracket so thats not the case with me, i was late getting on to the video game scene thanks to my parents thinking they were satanic so pokemon gen 3 was when i started playing the games alot (played the earlier ones later dont get that wrong) but mudkip is more nostalgia to me than pikachuMetazoxan wrote:I have a question for those voting for Mudkip. answer honestly now

Eh doesn't mean some might not want to screw it up even more. I'm just wondering what so many people see in mudkip. I used him in Gen 3 but that's it. He's just a gen 3 starter. Pikachu is basically the face of pokemon. So what is so great about Mudkip? Not bashing mudkip here just honestly asking.

You never watched the pokemon series? Because if you have then i cant understand a character from a game is more nostalgic than the main character pokemon who has had so many great moments in almost evryone's childhood.
I have never seen Mudkip in the series because i stopped watching after the original Pokemon and i have only played red, blue and yellow. So i pretty much only know the original 150 pokemon.

People voting Mudkips probably just liek teh Mudkips.
And really Bato? The games have got so much better since then. I've even heard that a lot of gen 5 (Black and White) was made to appeal to gen wunners such as yourself.

I watched more yugioh in my younger days because i had alot of the cards, i did watch pokemon somewhat but not really alot because i knew nothing about it at the time and again had no real knowledge of it without playing the gamesBato wrote:

I kinda gave up on pokemon after the first series. I got older and less interested and the games werent that interesting to me either anymore. When i was the right age for them there was only red and blue. Yellow was also still alright but after that i just got too old for them. And i also switched from gameboy to ps1 during that time

But you're only 22. I'm 20 and I remember plenty of people from school being interested in pokemon when Ruby and Sapphire came out. But I can see where you are coming from. The main problem with the pokemon series is each game is just a bit too repetitive. I'm actually interested in Pokemon X and Y only because I skipped Black and White and X and Y has more in battle motion so I figure X and Y should finally have enough new features to be worth getting. But for the longest time there was hardly any decent change to the games. Sure one added the pokemon contests and the next added a different kind of contest but it didn't change the feel of the game at all just threw in some new extras.
Over all the pokemon game series would benefit a lot from a revamped battle system. Maybe something a little more complex allowing for more kinds of strategy and more variation between games. Just something to truly give players a reason to follow each generation. I'm not saying they NEVER add anything new (Gen 3 introduced abilities) but it just feel like dressing up the same old thing in new clothes most of the time.

I just want quad battles, and I may go back to pokemon.
Along with the ability to catch the all the starters. Like catching tododile if you chose bayleaf or cyndiquil. Can't understand why they didnt do that.

Let me put it this way, its just not worth it to spend money for anymore. And i like it if i know the pokemons in the game. Thats why i liked red, blue and yellow. It seems kinda lame if i dont know a single pokemon in these new games.
You were talking that evrything was just more of the same, that was the same with the series. It was fun for the first series but then they replaced Brock and Misty and just did the same thing with different characters over and over again. It should have ended after the first series.

If i can interject my 2 pennies, and for what it's worth, i totes agree with you Bato. But did we really expect anything else from what was/is just a money making machine? Pokemon will continue to exist and will continue to poop out products until peeps stop buying! But yeah my interest died a long long time ago, i was willing to go as far as the original cast went and no farther.

It's the social aspect. The aim is to get people to play the games with friends who also have them so they can catch 'em all.Valvatorez wrote:Mafiacow wrote:And double battles. You can't forget double battles.I just want quad battles, and I may go back to pokemon.

Yeah, sorta the same for me. I've bought the first two seasons of it lately (original and orange islands), and I'm probably gonna buy up to either into or just before Hoenn, cause that's when I stopped properly watching. I'm considering checking out the new season, cause I've seen a few episodes, and it looks absolutely amazing compared to the shit storm that was gen 4.Bato wrote:Let me put it this way, its just not worth it to spend money for anymore. Re: ANIMALS OF APRIL Elimination Game
That would be a valid defense if those damn things were optional. In the games you would only do double battles when you can across the occasional double trainer. There should have been a setting allowing some random battles to end up as doubles. Wouldn't that have made the game more interesting? You're walking through grass and not only do you not know when a battle will start up you don't know if it will just be one or two. Instead it was just an occasional thing.Mafiacow wrote:And double battles. You can't forget double battles.

I used to do that but I have terrible luck with action replays. Damn things keep getting broken one way or another. I gave up after my second or third one.Valvatorez wrote:I stopped at Diamon and Pearl.

Re: ANIMALS OF APRIL Elimination Game
I'll vote Pikachu on this one, just because there was a time when I used to love the little guy.
I was going to abstain from voting, but I thought I might as well pick as side.
I also only played the older games. I liked the original pokemon and I could name them all, but they just kept going and going. I stopped watching the show immediately after the first generation, and only played the games up to Ruby and Sapphire.
But I think the only thing I really hated about the series advancement was the constant exclusion of older pokemon. I mean yeah, it's nice that they keep coming out with newer ones (some I like; some I don't) but do you really have to go so fast that you have to come out with another 150 per generation? I mean, are the pokemon mutating that fast? I'm just saying that they need to calm their tits and rewind a little bit. They don't have to go back and make everyone's pre-evolution over again, just take out some of the less popular ones and have a cross-over of generations.
That's all of my little rant of the subject.
PS. Pokemon Colosseum was the best pokemon game ever created.
