I don't know how popular it is, but I've seen them selling the original Japanese version in stores. I loved this show as a kid, and I finally got a Book of Clow of my own Very Happy

Well it is from Clamp and their stuff is fairly well known (Tsubabasa resevoir chronicals and XXX holic to name a few) so while I'm not sure how popular it is Card Captors is well known. It is also a classic example of the Magical girl genera.

Yeah even if you haven't seen stuff from Clamp anyone who watches anime has at least heard of some of their stuff. Their stuff is generally very popular. The only thing from Clamp that I didn't like was "Clamp school detectives". GOOD GOD that show was boring. Think of a show with three rich kids in a massive school who are supossed to have unique personalities but instead just feel bland and then make the show basically episodic with absolutely no overall plot at all. But I'm getting off topic.

The point was that Clamp mostly does good work.
