Sounds pretty stupid if you need to have seen up to ep 8 to see the movie, yet its allowed to be nominated. I know there werent specific rules for this yet, but they really need to come like Spor said earlier.

Things like Conan are enjoyable for evryone, also those who have seen nothing of the series. But this movie apperently cant be watched by those who have not seen the series.

@Joe, thanks for the work you did. Ill see if i can make time to watch abit of it.

The movie can be watched by those who haven't seen the series. I will say that they are perhaps at a disadvantage in terms of knowing who the characters are and there relationships, but the movie does fairly well at establishing that... Either way you won't really know unless you watch it yourself. If you plan to watch Melancholy then you may want to hold off on disapearance, but if you don't plan on watching Melancholy, try disapearance and you may change your mind about the series

NOTE: Movie is 10x better than series and I don't mean that in some fanboy kind of excited way but from a more analytical point when looking at plot, character development and even things such as animation

Also, I like anime movies that arent really based on the plot, like with Digimon and stuff. The only downside is that you really dont know the characters.

Seriously guys, if you haven't watched all of the Haruhi series, you shouldn't be voting for the movie. The Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody episode is set in the same time as parts of the movie, the Endless Eight arc is needed to see why some characters act the way they do in the movie, and the rest of the episodes are needed to see the relationships between characters.

If Haruhi wins, I will definitely NOT be joining in. Don't get me wrong, it's one of my favourite movies, and my absolute favourite anime. But I'm planning to rewatch everything in chronological order (as opposed to broadcast order as I watched it the first time) in the near future, and I'd rather not have to watch it again.

My vote goes to Conan.

I have a compromise. I'm willing to upload the first place and second place winners to the livestream and have a double feature. So anyone who doesn't want to watch Haruhi can still participate and watch the other movie.

I was thinking about doing Haruhi at 12PM PST and Conan at the regular 3PM PST.
