The fake site used to offend me to, until I saw that pretty much everyone that I enjoyed talking to, and anyone who wasn't the bad kind of troll ended up on this forum. JDrefuge is bigger, has more members, and we are down right cooler.

Everything. Wolfe was one of the site Admins and did a lot of the programming. It is because he left that a lot of site projects got dropped or put on indefinite hold.

I always liked Wolfe, but I can't imagine he would care to become involved in this mess after having escaped it. The artist I imagine might be more receptive, especially if the offer of future commissions stands.

I agree, but I'd like to clarify "ownership" (?) of Kami and what kind of agreements they had before I speak to the artist and appear an uniformed dolt.

I remember a conversation from some point in the past about the ownership of Kami. Someone had mentioned that the overall rights to the Kami artwork belonged to the artist, although clarity would be great in this case. I believe that conversation arose when someone had make NSFW versions of Kami that were discussed in the forum. Shogun might remember, but probably not. Razz

I don't see what the deal is, from what everyone says a community is what makes it count basically, and according to what I've very briefly read their's a new site being worked on by stevey, so it's like you guys will eventually take your 'rightful' place as the real JD.

I found out about the intellectual property of JustDubs being stolen. I made up an account with a fake name and password (cause I don't trust a liar) and went to their page and made a post. I thought I should bring up the phonies and give people a chance to rally behind the real JD and JD staff who work so hard for us. This is the discussion thread on the phony JD page. Okay since the issue was brought up... This is the result of the first DCMI charge from funimation pushed in 2011. The DCMI had to come at JustDUBS again. IF you were one of the many otaku searching for your favorite anime site when the site went down on January 14th then you probably scrolled down to the bottom of the page and saw the mountain of DCMI complaints. Funimation's first assault was small in comparison. One single document covering hundreds of different links to videos was nothing. When counted up there were about 23 different DCMI complaints EACH one holding AT LEAST the same amount of links as the first.

This tactic is basically baiting. You toss a small complaint in first, let them shrug it off, wait a little while, then you throw a barrage in. Because they are repeat offenders each and every count will bare the full force of the punishment rather than a slap on the wrist. So the leaders of JustDUBS was faced with a no win situation. Hundreds, maybe even thousands of counts of copy right infringement were staring him in the face.

These are the outcome of Copyright Infringement:
Infringer pays the actual dollar amount of damages and profits.
The law provides a range from $200 to $150,000 for each work infringed.
Infringer pays for all attorneys fees and court costs.
The Court can issue an injunction to stop the infringing acts.
The Court can impound the illegal works.
The infringer can go to jail.
Raise your virtual hand if you can afford to have a company (like Funimation) with a large budget (like millions of dollars) to come at them full force. Funimation saw a site that multiplied it's userbase at a compound rate and decided to burn them hard.

But while we are on the topic of stealing intellectual property... The name JustDubs is someone else's intellectual property. Just saying... You might look into changing the name before the owner of the aforementioned intellectual property decides to have it removed for you.

There you go. No more unintelligable idle speculations. Just fact. If you feel the need to voice your own opinions as fact then you might actually want to be right first. Enjoy.
