What's the OH! for? Also I too have yet to see the Shana series. Also Maddy, this here kinda says what you said might be wrong and therefore people who haven't seen the Shana series might need to see it before the movie. Might but not sure.

The movie is not a sequel to the anime, but is an adaptation of all the events in the first novel and contains events that were not in the anime series.

Even if you don't finish it, the movie can stand alone from the series. As long as you've seen past Jamming With Edward and you've seen her introduced then the movie will make sense.
