How Would You Design Our Mascot?

If we were designing a new mascot for the site how would you design them? Would it be a boy or a girl? What physical features would you give them? Height? Hair color? Body type? And what characteristics would they be attributed with? Would she be a short tempered tsundere girl? Or would he be the personification of GAR? Tell us how you envision our mascot.

Plans keep getting tossed around if we're keeping Kami, redesigning her or coming up with something new. I'm just curious to hear how the community would design our mascot if given the opportunity.

I would say make a character which can be portrayed as many different personalities...

Tsundere
Moe
Catgirl
Yandere
etc...

Mind you that is more aimed at there being a female mascot but you get the idea. If the mascot can be put to multiple personalities it allows much more creative freedom and varied banners, pictures, etc...

My personal vision is that she would look something similar in the vein of Black Rock Shooter (that is some sample artwork done by Kaizeru by the way) to go with a blue-ish color scheme for the site, except minus the scars / stitches, not quite as skimpy clothing, maybe a different haircut that also isn't quite as dark (her hair would be a more visible blue). And the clothing would have a little more decoration to it than being mostly just straight black. Maybe put just a few blue stripes or designs across it here and there similar to Kami's old look. And finally we could give her a little visor across the eyes like Kami had too except a different color of course to match the different color scheme. I think that would look pretty awesome.

I like the name "Arisu" that bedhead suggested. It's Japanese-sounding but not too overused or generic. Still open to more ideas on this though.

As for her personality, don't really care. Leaving that up to someone else to decide.

I say we have a group kind of thing. Sort of like going for a friendly otaku-ish kinda group. We have a 2 girsl, and perhaps 3 boys? Or just reduce both by one. Making a group would be a whole lot more friendly in my opinion to.

I can think of other things later on for personality types when I come back from school.

The idea deals with most of the personality and designs for say, different seasons and reasons. Like, we can just have a lax looking banner, where they are all goofing around. And then we can have one or two of the girls in maid outfits with cat ears for nyanuary. And we can do quite a bit if we just think separately for them all.

I'm not sure I like the group idea; makes it less personal so people won't get as easily attached. Plus I suspect that Kaizeru's probably going to want to charge more if she has to invent more than one character. But then again I don't know how she does her pricing so whatevs. Just my immediate considerations.

Most DA artist charge based on a few factors, if you did not know.

They usually charge differently for,
Lineart
Color
Groups
Amount of pictures requested

And perhaps a few more that I have not mentioned. I honestly disagree with the attachment thing though. People will actually get to choose a favorite out of the bunch, and we could create some cool things with them for the community. We can always create backstories for them all as well. We also will appear to the gender equality thing as well, so we dont drive away girls if all we show are girls to draw in people.

There's nothing wrong with a boy mascot. It'll make the site feel manly, and different. Visitors wont think its full of pervy virgins who like to look at a 2D character wearing skimpy clothing.

Into my conclusion, I personally say we have a Big Beefy hunk as our mascot, such as ken (from Sun Ken Rock (Manga) )

I still think that it would overall be more simple and elegant for the site to have a singular mascot, but that's just my personal opinion, and again, if that is not what the community wants then I will concede. However, I also don't see girls being detracted from the site just because of a female persona; female characters in anime seem to be more popular to both genders if our monthly contests have been any indication thus far, and more importantly I doubt anyone's going to stop visiting the website as a source for anime just because they feel underrepresented by our mascot.

Besides all of the innuendos Sai has made, I would be for either a group or a GAR type of character. We shall bring manliness if the group thing ends up losing in interest.

Well even if we don't redesign Kami the new mascot should look similar to her (like how some mentioned making her Kami's sister). So I really agree with MiniSiets. Assuming the new site has a blue Scheme doing something similar to BRS but giving her more Kami like cloathes, making her skin less pail looking and

One other thing I would like to add is mixing in a little purple highlights Kinda like this girl

Except maybe just from purple to blue instead of pink to blue.

I want to go with that to help give her a little more of Kami in her. It would sorta imply her orignal hair color was purple but it was dyed blue or something like that. At the very least I think it would look really good.

I say the mascot MUST be a female. No exceptions! Aside from that I would want her to be as close to Kami's appearance while still looking different but related as much as possible. I'll also still say this. I much prefer to keep Kami then go with a new mascot.

Oh Yeah for the new mascot design lets make her default clothes something that we won't be embarrassed to be seen with in public. Wasn't her outfit part of the reason some people didn't get the JD shirts?

I agree with Siets idea somewhere along the line of Black rock shooter, we need a figure that holds power, athleticism! and honor! ^^

Most importantly the mascot should represent the theme of the website ,I take it were still have a "purple-ish theme?!" Thus brs could be a slight mix of blue and purple, perhaps blue / purple eyes with blu-ish hair.

For the love of god do not make the mascots boobs massive when I say massive I mean "freezing" massive, just a no go!
