Re: New Content Managers Wanted
I still download anime and i haven't touched a torrent in over a month. u just need to knwo where to look for what you want. I've picked up a few new tricks during the down time as wellvashnik wrote:I detest trying to use torrents as a source (mostly cause I'd rather download the content itself than to end up finding a torrent with no seeds). My anime library is limited at the moment with only 13 titles that are DVD and/or combo packs out of the 14 titles I own; K-On! The Movie is on pre-order. I prefer to have a physical copy should the digital files be removed/deleted or the drives fail.
My internet connection on the other hand can be a problem, especially for uploading. Even though my bandwidth is a 7168 / 896 Kbps download/upload rate, for some reason my newest computer sometimes wants to choke the bandwidth and give me almost a dial-up bandwidth rates (and I've yet to find a permanent fix for it) while my cell phone can max out the bandwidth in a speed test using the same network (via WiFi).
Storage? No problem. I recently purchased a 2 TB WD Passport drive (USB 3.0 powered; 2.0 compatible) a couple month back to replace my broken 2 TB External Hard Drive (AC powered). I have 3 old laptops I can use for additional storage.
I suppose the only thing standing in my way of being truly dedicated to the CM position is a personal preference of buying the DVD/Blu-Ray discs over using Torrents as well as the ever looming bandwidth throttling on my computer. Guess it can't hurt to apply, though.

That's what Volunteer Uploaders do. With being a volunteer uploader, all you have to do is upload the content and link it to a CM to get it on the site.
This is true. We welcome any volunteer uploaders as well. I started out as a volunteer uploader myself. On the old site we made a thread and posted a portion of stuff that needed to be uploaded which was separate from anything the staff was working on. This way anyone could contribute if they wanted to.
If thats coming back on the new site and i understand how to upload it, then i can try it sometimes. And if you need help with some stuff i can help with, you know where to find me.
the club page will include video tutorials for uploading, dvd ripping, and basic video encoding.
We've decided against an upload club on the new site. The need for it just isn't there. You're free to post your tutorials when the new site opens though.

Re: New Content Managers Wanted
just figured it was the easiest way for everyone to know who was uploading what so no one did the same series and got mixed up. how do u plan on keeping volunteers from getting mixed up with others then?Sporadic wrote:- The Rose - wrote:as I said before, if there is enough interest in volunteer uploading, I can try to bring back the upload club which was run from spring time last year until JD's final hours.Bato wrote:Sporadic wrote:Valvatorez wrote:Just because you may not think you can become a Content Manager, doesnt mean you cant help upload.

Re: New Content Managers Wanted
The way I see it, we could always use mirrors, so that could help.
I myself will be keeping what i uploaded in notepad.
And the upload club bought problems with it as well, so I guess that is why it was dropped.

We used to keep track of that with the User Submissions thread. We'll go back to using that. That thread was merged into the upload club when the upload club opened.
Also, whatever putlocker links remain we'll be re-adding. A lot of it is broken though since they remove stuff after 30 days if its not viewed.

Re: New Content Managers Wanted
found the old rutube links.
I would think about it because i have the space and bandwidth, but I just don't have the computer to do it. If I ever get around to building my desktop I'll give a you a call.

Putlocker and Sockshare are the two best players IMO.
VideoSlasher is also very nice.

Re: New Content Managers Wanted
The wordpress plugin we're using on the new site doesn't support VideoSlasher. Plus, VS sucks now. They've had some decent upload speeds. But they had a two month downtime, after which they wiped all their servers. Not just the content, but everyone had to remake their accounts as well.
But yeah. PL and SockShare are nice. I use Uploadc and Veevr sometimes as well.

Yeah I'll probably use UploadC or Veevr to upload videos.

They're fine. You only really need the one. The only thing is if the files aren't viewed for 30 days they get removed. But that's never been a problem since they get watched all the time.

Re: New Content Managers Wanted
I've already received a decent amount of applications.
Edit: Due to circumstances I'll be closing applications early. You have until tomorrow to apply. Late applications will still be considered at a later date.
