Pokemon X and Y

Figured there should be a thread to discuss updates about this.

Anyway a new pokemon has been revealed
Sylveon

If you couldn't tell from the name or pic it is a new "Eveelution".

But unlike previous ones this one's type is not immediately obvious and hasn't even been revealed yet. Even the method of evolution is currently "secret". Judging by it's look my first guess is either flying (because of the ribbons which remind me of wind) or some sort of normal evolution allowing Evee to remain neutral but still be in an evolved form. I'll update this post with previously revealed information later.

Honestly, I gave up on Pokemon since the forth generation. The Pokemons are getting uglier and uglier...

Also each generation has at least a few gems although pokemon B&W had the most disappointing line up ever. BUt so far this X&Y Gen is looking pretty good. The starters looks good, the Legendaries look great, and now a new Evee that looks interesting. So I might give this one a chance since I actually never got Black or White.

i didnt really play black or white but i think i may get X or Y depends really. The first thing i thought of with Sylveon was a flying type but i am wondering about the name, the other forms of evee had some show of what they were in their names but this ones name idk about

I personally think its a normal type. I think I saw somewhere on FB that someone had related "Sylvia" to flying. Idk.

I really only was into 1-3 gens. Interestingly, even in my age group I've seen a comeback with the most recent gens.

Yeah current good money's on flying, cause sylphs are related to air. At least that's what I think sylv- is related to. It's hard because the actual meaning of sylvan (woods) doesn't make sense.

Well I have my beliefs for what it could be, perhaps a new type of Pokemon? Either way two things to take note here.

1. It's about DANG TIME they made a pink Eevee.

2. Every time they've made a new eevee there's always been two of em so where's the 2nd one? I'm thinking there's not one due to the line up in the Meloetta short having a character for each eevee and this one fills that last spot.

It'd be an improvement.
The only good Eevee-loution is Umbreon.

THAT'S BLASTPHEME! Espeon is better! I also like Flareon, Jolteon and oh hell most of them. Yes even Umbreon.

They both are terrible, hell I've got Flareon in my team in Pokemon Black 2, he faints right after the first attack.

I think it's time for a new type (There were only 2 new types since 1st generation)

i was just going to say that we have dark, psychic, and ghost types but no light

I have been waiting for Pokemon to take their game to the next level and this looks like it. Now if the field map was super sized and you can "see" the wild pokemon on the field......uh better not get my hopes up too much

Pokemon these days don't even look like "pocket monsters" anymore, just seem to look more like fruit and furniture.

Don't forget ice cream! But, yeah there are always a few designs that make you wonder.

There always has been and always will be however it's no doubt with each gen they've been getting weirder and weirder though thankfully there's always a handful or two that look pretty good, cool, and cute. Also the best ones are usually the ones that are revealed before the games are released. Such as Zorua & Zoroark for example. Finnekin & Froakie are two of my favs so far for the pokemon that's been revealed.

A light type would be interesting but how would it work into the current set up. Like what would it be strong and weak to? Dark would obviously be one but what else? BTW did you know the reason that psychic is weak to dark is because it is a basic fear? Psychic is weak to ghost and bug pokemon for the same reason. Fears affect the mind so they affect psychic powers.

I never thought of that before. Interesting. I guess Misty would be a Psychic/Water pokemon then. Hehehe

Speaking of new type. I've waited years for a new pokemon type and i'm really hoping X&Y give us 1-3 new types.

Also about Slypheon, (Think that's her name) new details for her should be out this month if I recall right but so far nothing but there is a little bit of this month left to go.

I really hope they fix the games. I was disappointed with B&W, which I thought was inferior to Diamond/Pearl, but B&W2 was an even bigger let down.

In B/W the plot addressed the "pokemon as fighting animals" subtext by having a "villainous team" that was essentially [Team rocket + PETA]. Then they ruined it by having the "twist" be that they never actually wanted to free all pokemon, they just wanted to take over the world using them, as usual. Even before they ruined it the plot was dealing with Team Plasma's suggestion of capturing pokemon being wrong with "well everyone has different opinions," which was pretty lame by itself.

The reason B/W2 is worse is because you're the sidekick. Your rival talks for you, fights most of the enemies, and other characters talk around you (the player character) by constantly talking to each other and ignoring you. The rival (read: main character who you don't play as) has a pretty dumb character arc too. Also, Team Plasma has forgone all of the possible complexity at this point and just become straight up evil for teh lols.

Yep, Sylvie's looking pretty light-centric.




My anime club thinks the other new type might be "sound" as it goes together with "light" as well as the fact that there's a few 'mons on the roster already that would fall into the category.
