No No No - its all goes back before women lib. Back in the old days women were just wall decorations if they were not keeping the house in order. Menfolk had all the power. So it was the Lord of the house that is addressed and not the women. Hence old world thinking in forming letters and writing is that you use the masculine pronouns if you truly dont know who you writing to. Japan is still very sexist in that regard.
