1 reason that I know for sure: The original forum was vBulletin. We are currently using phpBB. The only thing that could be safely copied over would be the images and the colors used from the original. The templates would not work for phpBB as phpBB has a different template coding style (including the variables used).
Also, for the single image navigation bar, there is still the Image Map HTML tag. Whether it would be allowed by the host (Forumotion) would be the real issue.

This looks super neat! Maybe the differing colors for the "New messages" will help me notice it better.

It looks good for the most part. Although you did link a lot of the icons directly from the old forum and a lot of them disappeared when that forum finally went down lol.

Yes, I think making it flash in red would be a good idea. Popups I personally dislike, and always turn them off in the user control panel.Sporadic wrote:The Messages icon changes when you receive a PM.
Was thinking about making it glow or flash instead of solid red so it stands out more. There's also an option which enables a popup alert on new PMs.

An alternative is always to set up a code that sends a message to the top corner of the page. Either your own or from the tutorial website.

On the nav bar there is a button called new posts we had them replaced with that.
@josh, that is also known as a popup.

I personally always thought a pop up was a new window... I am talking about a bit of colored text... but okay
