Guys, we must watch my nomination.
It is supposed to be a really good Australian horror movie.

I'm sorry Maddy, your nomination was not included as I already had 8 (I miss counted) and also it isn't a fantasy film.

Well, we have a tie folks between Pan's Labyrinth and The Avengers.
I will settle this with a best of 3 coin flip.
Pan's Labyrinth = Tails
Avengers = Heads

Thanks Pando. I am making you a club staff member, you are officially the Link Provider! Don't worry though you won't have to do anything but provide the torrent links (one for 720p and one for 1080p if available).

Re: The Film Club
The nominations for the next film are:
Wolf Creek
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Taken
Inception
Reservoir Dogs
The Lincoln Lawyer
The Way
Sunshine
So get voting! http://justdubsrefuge.omgforum.net/t739-the-film-club-vote-march-2013-2
A little heads up, from April onwards we will be only doing one film per month as I am struggling to keep up with doing 2 films a month. Also, I will be posting some film news every so often in this main club thread so we have more to discuss rather than just the film we watched.

Ken Watanabe Joins Godzilla
As Gareth Edwards starts shooting
18 March 2013 | Written by James White | Source: Legendary Pictures (Via Collider)
It feels like it’s been a long time coming, but after a couple of years of rumours, producer scuffles, casting announcements and scriptwriter changes, the new version of Godzilla has finally kicked off shooting under the direction of Monsters’ Gareth Edwards.
The start-of-production notice also includes a full cast list, with mention that Inception’s Ken Watanabe has signed on. He joins Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston.
Edwards, who’s working from a script that includes work by Max Borenstein, Drew Pearce, Dave Callaham and Frank Darabont, started the cameras cranking Monday in Vancouver, where the giant beast is expected to cause all sorts of mayhem. Godzilla, we mean. Gareth’s not usually known for causing mass destruction except when he points a camera at something. His family holidays must be a hell of an experience.
After teasing the world with teaser footage at Comic-Con back in 2012, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures plans to unleash the film, which aims to take a more realistic look at what happens when giant creatures terrorise humanity, on May 16 next year.

Re: The Film Club
Lol, 90s movie ends on a cliffhanger and it takes over a decade for the sequel. Or I'm guessing it's a sequel anyway? I haven't researched it yet.

It's a re-make. It's supposed to be more set in reality as to what would happen if we were attacked by a giant monster! A bit like the film Monsters.

Re: The Film Club
Lara Croft Will Return
Update: MGM makes a deal
28 March 2013 | Written by Owen Williams | Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Update: MGM have just announced that they'll be partnering with production company GK films for ongoing cinema Tomb Raiders. Graham King remains aboard as producer, and with development beginning immediately, the next jobs will presumably be to finalise the screenplay (possibly by Ostby & Fergus: see below); start the search for a director; and of course, find a new Lara Croft...
Development on the long-mooted third Tomb Raider movie has been slow and tortuous, but with a new instalment in the videogame franchise currently garnering plenty of attention, the subject of a new film has naturally started coming up again. Unusually for such a project, it seems that game developers Crystal Dynamics will be keeping a close eye on any potential new screen adventures for the adventurous Ms Lara Croft.
"It was important for both us and [developing production company] GK Studios to have a cohesive version of the franchise," says Crystal Dynamics studio head Darrell Gallagher. "It's a good partnership. We're seeing the challenges through the same lens. We didn't want to see a continuation of the old films, [so] they are working from this new take we've given them." Ultimately though, "We make the games, they make the film," he admits.
That "new take" involves a younger Lara: the new game sees her "fresh from the academy", honing her nascent fighting, puzzling and surviving skills following a shipwreck off the coast of Japan. Back at the end of 2011, producer Graham King was talking up the same reboot angle, saying that although the Angelina Jolie films (Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Filth Life) "weren't disasters, the story that we're telling is really the story before she became Lara Croft, so it is a character piece, which I find interesting. But it's still a lot of action and a lot of fun."
In those days, the screenplay was being hammered out by Iron Man writers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, but a lot may have changed since then. The new Tomb Raider clearly won't be making its originally mooted 2013 release date, but it's not been buried alive either. It still looks likely that it will emerge blinking into the light at some point in the not-too-distant future.

Re: The Film Club
I've never felt like the Tomb Raider series has had a rich enough story to warrant a movie adaptation even with the new Lara Croft. Out of all the games to choose from, it continually baffles me that these are the picks that Hollywood producers decide to go with. Not to say that Tomb Raider is bad; just that there are so many better choices out there.

Re: The Film Club
Hollywood revolves around commercialism so if something is popular enough they will make a movie out of it, it doesn't matter if it has a decent story or not, just as long as it makes the fat cats richer!
