Basement Collection, Bastion Demo, Binding of Isaac, Stronghold Kingdoms, Team Fortress 2, and Sanctum are my only steam games. Though I have nonsteam games added to my steam list.

I use Steam a lot, mostly as a chat program because I don't have to minimize my game client while talking. XD Most of my games that I play on it are non-Steam purchased.

if you watched the DICE keynote with Gabe Newell he puts into good description of what the steambox is aiming for

Good::: is a cheap streaming device where you PC does the heavy lifting, but is simply a local streaming box (only one with any CONFIRMED development) but it will still operate like a regualr (linux) PC, but all the heavy lifting (gameing) will be done by your larger PC

Better:: will be a Console competitor with a console form factor and a console price and console performance, but, runs steam (and is still basicly a computer (linux))

Best:::: Will be a PC competitor that runs ofc, linux. Running Mid to High-End parts. FYI, the new consoles are rumored to only be SLIGHTLY better (if that) than my 2 year old Budget gaming computer

Valve themselves are not making these, they are being contracted out to companies, so, you will have different kinds of each. so, if asus and gigabyte both picked up the Better box, you will see an asus and gigabyte better boxes. choice is always good, the only thing they will have in common is what Valve tells them (probably steam-based Linux kernal OS) BUT gabe also said in an interview some time ago, that they will NOT be locked boxes and your more than welcome to install windows on it if you really want to

Needless to say, I rarely use Steam. Skyrim wasn't really all that great like the hype implied in my opinion. It's just a glorified single player version of World of Warcraft with a hint of Minecraft creativity (Alchemy similar to Brewing, without the need for bottles).

currently I've only played team fortress 2 on steam but I'm thinking about getting more games. looking at getting the walking dead game, the killing floor looks interesting and Amnesia's been suggested to me by my friends for the last month. oh and I've just found Ace Combat Assault horizons on steam so I may get that in the future.

Also any free games I should get on steam?

I actually used to dislike steam. Back then I saw no reason at all to require my games to be run under them all the time. I felt a little intrusive.

Nowadays It's OK because EVERY new game made seems to have been made for steam. Also they have lately made very good deals for games that are new and upcoming. Good for small companies and I approve of this.

Just leave that play offline option in and we are good to go
