Wind Waker Wii U remake announced
A remake for The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker has been revealed for the Nintendo Wii U. It will release sometime in the fall 2013. You can check out some screenshots here.
Also, Zelda series producer, Eiji Aonuma talks a bit about the next Zelda title in the video below.

Pretty. I didn't really like skyward sword that much, so I'm not sure if I'm excited about the other new one though.
Majora's mask was released for the gamecube in a disc. It was fun.

The only Zelda game I broke down and looked up a guide to find those stupid triforce pieces or whatever they're called

That wasn't a remake though. And if I'm thinking of the right thing, Majora's Mask didn't even get it's own standalone game; it came as part of the Collector's Edition disc with other Zelda games. Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game, so I want it to get the remake like OoT it deserves .

Of all the Zelda games they chose to remake they went with Wind Waker? Disappointing, the game's art style doesn't allow for much visual improvement anyway. But it's not stopping work on the next Zelda game so I guess whatever. I'll just be skipping this while I wait for it.

also, if i had a wii-u, i would be excited about this, i might get dolphin (the wii/gamecube emulator) the use of the Wii pad will be extra nice as if anyone remembers you could hook up your Gameboy advance to the gamecube and control tingle with it, ill assume the same will be possible with the pad.
also, if this isnt slowing production of the new game, and this one sells well, hopefully they will remake OOT & MM, becasue its windwaker and unique art style, a remake will take less work than those other 2, so, if sales are good, they might delve into a twilight-princess-like remake of OoT

OoT did get a remake. It was on the 3DS though.

I disapprove of this ><. There are only two Zelda games that I really don't like and this is one of them. The other being Minish Cap.

I don't like this trend of remaking old games especially a game like Wind Waker that already has a unique art style (after all aren't remakes for old looking games?)

It can do some good for developers though, at least with learning new software without having to sacrifice quality in new installments. Especially for Nintendo who came into this gen at the end of it.

I suppose so but still got to be careful not to milk your top franchises too much. We don't want another Sonic in our hands. I know Mario and Pokemon can keep getting remade but I don't know about Zelda.
Worth checking out though, I'll need to keep an eye on this (Those Zelda maniacs won't let me hear the end of it anyway lol)

Thats a pretty big change in the visual style....
Interesting, but like others I would enjoy a MM remake. Although somewhere i thought i heard one might be for the 3DS, I'm not a fan of the mobile version remakes.

Re: Wind Waker Wii U remake announced
agrees, mobile remakes do nothing for me as i have an android, and although i can get an emulator for my droid and plug my 360 controller into it, its still not the same
the zelda collectors edition came pre-wind waker, i remember there was a 20min demo on there. it had Link's very first quest, The Legend of Zelda; his second quest, The Adventure of Link; his first appearence in 3D, Ocarina of Time; and his journey through Termina, Majora's Mask.
None of these were re-makes, just more of a copy & paste & sell kind of thing (or in this case, bundled, not sold) i still have the disk for my gamecube, as the GC was the last game system i owned. the wind waker project is an increase in polygons, Pixels, lighting, among other things, although the art style wont be any different. kind of like using ENB & HD texture mods on Skyrim
I really want to see OoT take on the darker, more rugged art style of twilight princess, and majoras mask to get a complete overhaul using the same-as-original art style, as i dont feel the cell-shaded, or the darker art styles really fit that game, it was perfect as it was, it just needs a...HD overhaul, so to speek, and i dont mean, an increase in resolution, and some AA slapped on it and done, put some effort into it

Personally, I found that OoT worked really well on the 3DS.

I'm a bit of a LoZ fanboy, but I don't think it has the room to end yet. It has this huge linked (no pun) story. At least it deserves one good installment in HD.
Other then that, I think we would benefit from what the series offers in other games. Not like Darksiders II, but the full package. So story would have to matter too.

Just changing the subject a bit here, but was wondering if anyone was going to pick up a copy of the Hyrule Historia?

This sounds like a great idea to get people to buy the Wii U. Wind Waker is definitely one of my favorite Zeldas (I just beat it for the first time a few months ago)

WW definetly has the most original story line. even if people dont like the art style it took (most of us here who like anime like it ofc) it still has the best story and ending byfar

The game looked good to me. People just wanted a more "realistic" Zelda game which they would get later on. The only thing I hated so much about the game was finding those blasted triforce shards. I know they were going for a change of pace but damn man, those pieces were hard to find.
