its about dubtopian, and i guess it just personal preference, or maybe im just crazy, but..everything seems so....FORMAL, it kind of bothers me a little bit, i very much enjoy the laidbackness of this forum.

idk, i kind of feel that everything said is simply C&P

example: i got a PM that my sig was to big and it was removed, but...it felt cold, like, it was computer generated. does anyone understand what i mean?

someone lend me some re-assurance ill enjoy my stay at dubtopia, i know its the same people and all, but, everything seems so impersonal atm, i mean, idk who DTRadmin is, but if there were around here they know who i am and...idk, i guess they are playing safe

heres another example

Poster: "i have this issue"

Admin response: "we are aware of this issue and are working on it"
or
"please send mail here"

what would be better?

Admin response: hey man, yea, we noticed thats a problem, we are working on it right now, please hang tight we should have it fixed soon/ETA
or
"this is new to us, can you drop us an e-mail at XXXXX detailing your issue? we will get to work on it as soon as we can"

DTR admin is still the same admin he just didnt take the name stevey this time around. I got a more personal message because mine wasnt the generic i cant post message that he is probably getting a thousand of thanks to the amount of random people we have been getting. The threads will lighten up after everything calms down and the people who are staying stay and the people who are leaving leave. The amount of new people makes it seem more formal because you are talking to more strangers than usual and dont always know what to say around them, but again it will pass just chill foot fetish guy......i mean joe

It'll be alright Joe. As others have said they're just really busy getting it all worked out, this is a brand new site after all not like a near perfect copy like this one was so it's only natural things will be this way for a while and plus the new members too, even old members like us. I'm already there and am still getting used to it. So far I like what I see but I don't have much more time to look around since I got to get stuff done but give it some time and it'll all work out.

I'm not involved with the error handling, but I'm sure stevey is probably dealing with the same recurring issues from a lot of people right now, which is why the only way to make it manageable is to simply offer a copy-pasta response.

Remain steadfast, brethren! Conditions will improve once the transition to ~~my test chamber~~ uh, the new site is complete. Yeah.

Yeah I'm sure he's getting dozens of emails about the same recurring issues.

It's really a lot to make a unique response for every single person when the complaints are always the same issue. Only so much you can manually type out before you get tired of it. And same goes for the sig warning. I assume there's a list of pre written warnings for each infraction, because having to warn people is part of the mod teams daily job. It happens too much and typing out something personal every time is more work than needs to be done. It honestly breaks down to everyone trying to be efficient right now. Once all the minor bugs are worked out, we all finally settled on the new forum and things will slowly go back to normal again.

You have to remember too, this forum you know here is our temp forum. I'm not sure how long you were on our old forum but overall this place is less strict by far. There was no point in enforcing arbitrary things like sig size when the staff was busy getting our new home ready.

If there's one thing I miss, well it's a few thing actually. The old look of JD/JDR but I hope since it's still being worked on that it'll look more like the look now. As for the small text/avi's, uh I'm already missing the bigger text and Avi's. Even JD had the Avi size of 100x150 and I hope these will become big again like we had here. Don't get me wrong I DO like the look of the new site. I'm just home sick is all and miss the old look. :( Sorry, anyway great job to everyone who helped to make the new site'(s).

I just checked my old Avi and yeah your right. It was 100x100. Still miss the big avi's here though. :(

Bigger avatars along with new forum sections and sig limits were just something to ease everyone on the temp forum while the new site was being worked on. It ended up showing what the community wanted more too but just keep in mind everything is still being worked on.

yup. supplies a smaller and larger avatar so you don't have to worry about the cropper expanding a small image and making a blurry one.

Just might but up until DTR I have never once heard of Gravatar so not like I know anything about it or how to use it or even where it is. :/

When you edit your avatar, there is a gravatar option. Click on the word Gravatar and it takes you to a WordPress site. Register there and upload a pic. Delete your avatar on DTR and the Gravatar will automatically show up.
