The best (or worst) hoaxes in gaming
We've all been there. You were on the net or talking to a friend and you hear about a glitch or method allowing you to get to secret areas or unlock something. An infamous example are the numerous mew rumors (like finding him by pushing the truck at the port using strength). But every gamer has fallen for at least one of the many rumors out there. So why not post them here? Even if you didn't fall for it if you heard about it still feel free to post.

Yeah those are some famous ones. All of the hoaxes regarding that involved ridiculous or even impossible goals to do it.
One Hoax I remember that I didn't fall for was in .hack G.U.
In the game you eventually get your own guild and you can upgrade it throughout the game. But you can never reach the highest level where "according to the game" a guild gets and entire area complete with it's own dungeon and everything. But the guild you are in charge of never reaches that level. However I remember reading a hoax that claimed that you could if you got EVERYthing in game, killed every kinda monster, and a bunch of other stuff. Then you'd get the highest guild level and you would get all these new game functions using the guild.
It was obviously false though.

The only one I remember was the one about mew being available in Pokemon Yellow after completing the pokedex by having 150 captured pokemon recorded. You would have to talk to some guy in... oh what was the town called, the one with the Grass gym leader and the "casino". He would present you a certificate or something and give you mew. lol That one only made me play for another day, then I got bored with it again. lol
I also remember the "Missing No" glitch which allowed you to duplicate an item, but also screw up the Hall of Fame with garbage text, images and stats.
I never heard about the "prevent aerith's death" one though, well until now. I do remember the Debug glitch that is induced by a Gameshark code. That one is a b**** if you don't have the old PlayStation and Gameshark mod-chip that hooked into the back of the system so you could turn off the Gameshark codes without powering off the console.
