Anime Saturdays: King of Thorn
Totally spaced making this thread. I know some people had mixed feelings about the movie when we watched. Remember, these topics aren't restricted to only the people who participated. Let the discussion begin.
I thought the plot was interesting. The concept of the Medusa virus and putting people in a cryogenic sleep was a little different, but neither ideas are something original. The character development was rather slow as well as the storys over all progression. For awhile they were just running around from the same types of monsters. The monsters btw, were very terrible products of cgi gone horribly wrong.
Marco was essentially the only enjoyable character. And if it wasn't for the mind fuck ending it would have gotten a lower score from me. I give it a 6/10

i was able to look past most of the "flaws" and greatly enjoyed it, the mind fuk was amazing, the CGI could have been better, but when you mix anime art with heavy CGI, things will look awkward. character development is different when you watch a movie becasue we are so used to deep development spanning several hours of a show. the constant running was annoying, but it was plot driving as people were systematically being killed off.
monster variety could have been better...
and theres no such thing as original ideas anymore.
i give it 8/10

So that's why I couldn't find this tread. I liked the movie. The MC was a bit annoying, but was overall watchable. A few parts were a bit confusing and I still don't know if I understand it 100%, but was interesting none the less.
