Well i haven't made a signature in a very long time but looking at the ones that have been made by the people on this forums inspired me. The signature started off being a 'GIF' but i chose against it in the end, since i didn't like the look of it. It's not the best work I've done but i still kinda like it 
Firstly what the GIF would of looked like. This was my first ever attempt so i wasn't expecting much, but either way i didn't like the look of it.
~ This was really inspired by Crazy potato, after seeing his i had to attempt it!

go for adobe after effects if you want some smooth animation

Looks good! I'll have to check it out. As it is now i ditched the GIF signature because it wasn't smooth but yours looks great!

You mostly just have to keep messing with .gifs and think outside the box when you animate and as time goes by you come up with sweet things that are very simple like
I used a video screened it and put the render over a snowy background.
see simple but it made a great effect!
I would like to use Ae but it's just to much of a hassle and you have little control of the signature (at least in my opinion unless someone tells me otherwise haha)

you have to use photoshop to make the initial signature without the animation, then use after effects to put the animation layer above everything.
this is the tutorial i used to make that sig btw...

Hmm, compared to crazy's first one mine looks like trash. Well, it just means I've got to practice more. Although i doubt I'll be able to do that snow animation any time soon, looks far to complicated...

not at all just look for a video of falling snow with a black/blue/green background then in Ps file/Import/video frames to layers find the video and you got the video after that make a folder and put all the frames of video in there now you should have a folder with the video layers then insert your image below that then on the folder change the blending options to screen bam you go your self a nice signature.
Do note I never used Ae for my signature mostly because Ae makes the signature come out bad

O.o I've got Ae but i don't like it, i can't get the hang of it. I prefer Photoshop, although I'm not great i can easily learn.

I could watch some tutorials but it still wouldn't feel right, I've used Photoshop so long I've gotten accustom of most of it. So switching wouldn't feel right, if you know what i mean?

i've tried animations in flash, after effects, and photoshop. In terms of ease of use im going with flash, but when it comes to how much stuff you can do, AE is the way to go. Photoshop is nice but its very basic and quite frankly a pain to use once you get to try AE or Flash. Editing frame by frame is not fun.

Ye, i guess it is more work however i think it will end up being more satisfying once finished. I know how strange that sounds but I'm quite a strange individual.
